Methods
Lorraine is trained and qualified in the following methods of hair extensions:
Racoon International Hair Extensions:
Racoon hair is real European hair and is ‘root point correct’, i.e. it comes with the cuticles intact so the hair can be re-used. It is ethically sourced.
It is applied using The Bonded Method where loose, single stands of human hair are attached 6mm or ¼ inch from the scalp to allow freedom of movement using resin. The finished bond looks like a small rice grain. They lay close to the head and are not bulky and cannot be seen. The Racoon bonded method is one of the kindest methods to the hair, quick to remove, leaving no trace or residue.

Standard Hair
Standard human hair, mainly from Asia is applied using the same method as with Racoon Hair. The cuticle has been stripped. What was once dark and straight may now be blonde and wavy. Whilst there are greater aftercare considerations with Standard hair, it is less expensive than the European equivalent. However, it can look equally fantastic and is sometimes better suited to certain hair textures. You need to be careful not to apply excessive heat as this will dry out the hair. This is also applied using The Bond Method.
Micro Ring Hair Extensions
Micro rings are one the best and safest hair extensions system available today, they are the most up to date innovative method of hair extensions and are harmless to your own hair as they involve no glues, bonds or weaves. Micro Rings are little tubes that are shrink wrapped around your own hair and the hair extension using a cold system that will not break your hair and are easy to remove. Remi hair is used.
Racoon Micro Weft
This method is where bonding tape is used to create a seamless blend of the weft to your own hair and is very comfortable to wear. Racoon hair is used. The Racoon Micro Wefts are endorsed by an independent Trichologist as being the kindest hair extensions system available on the market, in particular for people who may have damaged hair.
Micro Weaves
The weaved weft, which is a bit like a grass skirt, is attached using the micro rings. Your own hair is then threaded through the weft and micro rings. Remi hair is used.
Clip-on Hair Extensions
You can clip these extensions into your own hair whenever you want it and remove just as quickly.
Braiding and Weaving
Give more tension to your hair and skin because it is tight and therefore will pull more. Lorraine will braid the tracks firmly but comfortably.
Weft Weaved Hair Extensions
A weft is a track of several inches long on which the hair is already attached (a curtain of hair attached together at the top and free flowing at the bottom). A weft can be made by a machine or by hand.
Hand made wefts are better; they are custom made to suit your head and match your hair. The extensions are then applied by using one row (track) at the time instead of strand by strand.
Weft Braided Hair Extensions
First a braid is created of your own hair and then the weft is sewn onto the braid. The number of tracks depends on what you want.
Maintenance and Aftercare
To keep your hair extensions looking their best, we recommend a retouch after 6-10 weeks. This gives us a chance to see the hair extensions that have grown down due to natural hair growth and grooming. The hair extensions are replaced if necessary. More hair may need to be ordered.
Care of your new extensions is important to keep them looking their best. Lorraine will advise what you need to do to care for them (this will also be done at consultation so you know what is involved before you book). We offer an aftercare kit which includes the following:
- Specialist oil-free shampoo and conditioner with a fresh fragrance. Essential for keeping those bonds intact and prolonging the life of your extensions.
- Thermal protector – a must to use on wet or dry extensions hair to protect you against the heat from styling tools and the amazing extension gloss.
- Soft bristled brush which is essential to care for extensions. The soft bristles pass easily over the bonds without causing tension or damage.
